ORATORY SING UP 2010-11 Introducing Oratory Sing Up, The London Oratory School’s Chorister Outreach Programme with local primary schools. What is Oratory Sing Up? The London Oratory School, in conjunction with the Choir Schools’ Association is running the programme with 7 primary schools in the neighbouring boroughs of Wandsworth and Kensington & Chelsea after two successful years working in the area.  Specialist singing leaders will visit each school weekly with the support of The London Oratory School Schola choristers.  There will be a twice termly workshop for all the participating schools and CDP for all the teachers. Nationally, Sing Up is the Music Manifesto’s National Singing Programme. It’s a programme to make sure that singing is at the heart of every primary school child’s life. We believe that singing has power to change lives and help to build stronger communities. Who are the people running this? The London Oratory School Schola, a leading boys’ choir in the UK has been awarded funding to run this programme.  The school visits, Saturday choirs (West London Children's Choirs) and regular workshops will be run by the highly experienced Schola staff, together will carefully selected London music professionals and the choristers themselves.   The school’s Music Department has great expertise in arranging professional concerts and music events, so all the Oratory Sing Up concerts and events will be a rewarding and unforgettable experience for all those involved. How else can my son or daughter get involved? If your child doesn’t attend any of the schools listed above you can still take part in the programme.  Oratory Sing Up is also running the West London Children's Choir on Saturdays in school term time for children who live or go to school in West London (W and SW postcodes).  To be part of this you need to complete an application form and send it back to addresses provided.  There will be a simple audition which will involve singing a simple favourite song and some easy pitching exercises. What events will there be? Oratory Sing Up will be holding 3 concerts per year at various London venues.   The West London Children's Choirs, school choirs and the renowned London Oratory School Schola will be joined by a professional players to perform old and new works specially commissioned for the programme.
