Supporting the Schola

Would you like to support the Schola? There are a number of ways:

Sign up for Payroll Giving: The Schola Foundation is now geared up for Payroll Giving and already several Schola supporters are onboard. It is the most tax effective way of making a donation to charity. It costs on ly £8 for every £10 you donate. It's even better for Higher Rate Taxpayers: for every £10 you donate, only £6 is deducted from your pay, the other £4 is paid by the tax man.

It's easy to set up: ask your payroll department for a payroll giving form and enter 'The London Oratory School Schola Foundation, registered charity no. 1119254'. If your company doesn't have a payroll giving (or Give As You Earn) scheme, encourage them to set one up and email us to let us know.

Giving regularly through your pay allows The Schola to plan for the future and insulates your donations from changes in tax legislation. Payroll giving is very convenient: it saves time and paperwork as we don't have to reclaim any tax. Once you've set it up, why not encourage your colleagues to do the same?

Making a donation: All donations are a fantastic support for the Schola, no matter how large or small. You can donate by PayPal via the 'Donate' link above, or send a cheque payable to 'LOS Schola Foundation'. Please include a completed a gift aid form which will increase your donation by an extra 28% at no cost to you, as long as you are a UK tax payer. Please post your cheque and gift aid form to: The Schola Foundation, The London Oratory School, Seagrave Road, London SW6 1RX.

Join the Schola Family: by becoming a Friend of the Schola. Click on the link for more details and to download a membership form. Membership costs from only £35 per year. Larger gifts of more than £1,000 will be acknowledged by Honorary membership of the Friends of the Schola. We are delighted to announce the launch of the 'Schola Director's Circle' where a gift of £5,000 or more is pledged annually for three years.

Join the Schola free emailing list: and keep in touch with occasional email updates: just drop us a line by emailing schola@.los.ac.

Leave a gift in your Will: A benefactor has notified the trustees of a large bequest to The Schola Foundation. This extremely generous gift will be transformational. It could, for example, enable the Schola to make a top quality recording or contribute to the Schola Endowment Fund. In return, the donor has requested prayers for their soul to speed their passage to Eternal Rest.

It will be the trustees' privilege to ensure that future Schola choristers say a special prayer before they sing Mass each week. A book of Prayers for Benefactors will be established to honour this promise.

You may consider making a bequest in your Will to help secure the future of the Schola. If you would like to discuss this, please do get in touch in confidence. It is recommended that you take advice from a solicitor when making a Will, and to ensure that the Schola is the beneficiary, it is vital that the bequest is in the full name of 'The London Oratory School Schola Foundation, registered charity No. 1119254.'

Did you know? Founded in 1996, the Schola is unique in the way it gives Catholic boys a continuous choral education from age 7 to 18 within the state sector. The London Oratory School is the only state school in the UK which offers this kind of specialist education - otherwise only found within independent choir schools.

In addition to its busy schedule and regular liturgical duties at The London Oratory School and at The Brompton Oratory, the Schola runs an outreach programme. Oratory Sing Up brings Schola music specialists and choristers into local primary schools helping young children learn to sing. Visit www.oratorysingup.org.
