Safety
Profound learning opportunities can be found for young
people in challenging situations.

We endeavour to manage the risk.
The safety of participants in activities is paramount and all are risk assessed and managed in accordance with the latest health and safety guidance. We operate a maximum staff to pupil ratio of 1:12 for all outdoor activities. Are leaders hold formal BELA or Summer Mountain Leader Qualified and are first- aid trained. Where specialist organisations are used for hazardous activities outside our expertise, We check that they comply with the Adventurous Activities Licensing Authority and that staff are CRB checked.
We place a strong emphasis on pupils taking responsibility for their safety. This is particularly important on ventures like the D of E where they are under remote supervision. Pupils receive training in ‘rolling risk assessment’ , emergency procedures and emergency life support.
We hold an information evening and safety briefing for parents prior to expedition season. |
