Choral Society
The school Music Department runs a Choral Society consisting of parents, staff, past pupils and friends. They join with pupils from the school choir each term to perform a major concert with orchestra, usually in Hampstead Parish Church.
The society is open to anyone with an interest in singing, and no auditions are held. Recent works performed include, Haydn's Creation; Handel's Messiah; J S Bach's St John Passion; Vaughan Williams' Fantasia on Christmas Carols , Mendelssohn's Elijah, Verdi's Requiem, Elgar's Dream of Gerontius and Mozart's Mass in C minor.
The emphasis is on enjoyment and people of all musical experiences, however limited, join in. The rehearsals are each Wednesday in the Junior House choir room, commencing at 7.00pm until 9.00pm. There is a break for wine and several social outings are arranged each term, including recent weekends in Paris and Brussels.
We charge a termly subscription of £35 single or £60 for a couple, which covers the cost of hiring a professional orchestra and soloists each term. This represents very good value for money, as it is cheaper than many evening classes. To join, just come along on a Wednesday evening during term time and ask for the Junior House choir room at reception.
