A Level Art Project: Beauty in Decay
The pupil who created this work is Daniel Yanez Cunningham; he is an A Level pupil and the sculpture has been carved out of alabaster. Here is what Daniel had to say about his work;
These are photos of my etching, wax resist and alabaster work. This selection of art is a portion of my project on the Beauty in Decay. I have begun with a focus on classical architecture and our experience of it as a decayed form. Through etchings, wax resist inks and sculpture in alabaster, I have been exploring the residual beauty in ancient architecture. The negative space left by lost facades and portions of these buildings acts as the physical manifestation of the decay of once great empires.
