HEADMASTER’S BRIEFING

My Chapel reflection this week: Worshipping in Spirit and Truth can be read here.

Parents of Fourth-Form pupils are reminded about the Parent-Teacher Meeting taking place on Tuesday 15 January at 4.30pm.  Teas and coffees for parents arriving early to be served in the Library Lobby.

On Wednesday 16 January, the school will meet at 9.30 in front of the Oratory Church for Mass at 10am. Fifth form and Upper Sixth form pupils, who are not required for duties, will have study leave that day. School will finish early at 2.30pm and there will be no homework centre or extra-curricular activities after school and the Library will be closed.

School Uniform
I should like to remind parents of the school uniform donation scheme whereby parents can donate any unwanted school uniform to the school which can then be donated or sold as second hand to other families. At present we do sometimes receive uniform from Fifth formers and Sixth form leavers for this purpose but it may be that younger boys outgrow uniform which is still in good condition.

May we request that any surplus uniform is sent in to your son’s Housemaster or ADS. Any parent who may be seeking an item of uniform may then contact their son’s Housemaster who will check what is in stock.

New Front Gates & Turnstiles
The security gates at the front of the school are now fully operational.  Pupils have an access card which operates the turnstiles.  If a pupil has lost their card, for £2 they can get a replacement from the Registry.

If parents are meeting pupils at the end of the day we ask that they wait outside either the Fulham Broadway or Seagrave Road gates and the pupil will meet them there and make their onward journey from there; pupils cannot bring their parents across the School site.  Parents with an appointment or needing to speak to the receptionist should buzz the intercom next to the new pedestrian gate.

Parents are reminded that pupils should not be on site before 7.15am and access for pupils will only be available from this time.

Final Call for Volunteers: Annual Careers Fair – Wednesday 6 February 2019
Thank you to those to parents, Old Oratorians and friends of the school who have volunteered to assist at the annual Careers Fair. This is an informal evening aimed at pupils in the lower sixth. Volunteers are asked to attend on the evening to answer questions about their own careers and the routes they took to the positions they hold today.  Pupils greatly value this opportunity as they are embarking on firming up career plans and university applications. The guidance and insights volunteers provide is often invaluable. To register your interest in helping out please contact Miss Devaney at edevaney@los.ac  (please use the title Careers Fair in your subject line).  Please respond by Tuesday, 15 January.

The Arts Diary of events for Lent & Trinity Term 2019 is now available to view.  Please see Forthcoming Events below of this bulletin.
